Thermo-Lag FIRE BARRIER SYSTEMS FOR USE IN NUCLEAR POWER GENERATING PLANTS
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued its Generic Letter 86-10, Supplement 1 on March 25, 1994, a retroactive requirement. One of the purposes of this letter was to provide the industry with specific procedures on how to test and evaluate fire barrier systems used in the implementation of Appendix R of 10CFR50. In the U.S., all nuclear plants have to comply with Generic Letter 86-10, Supplement 1, irrespective when they were commissioned.
Thermal Science, in conjunction with several utilities, performed a considerable amount of testing to develop and confirm systems that comply with these new regulations. Copies of these test reports can be obtained from the NRC Dockets room or from the individual utilities. The Thermo-Lag Fire Barrier Systems were evaluated and installed by a number of U.S. and international nuclear power generating plants.
